General classes FAQ:
Are the classes appropriate for people who haven’t done much/any baking?
Absolutely. The classes attract home bakers and cooks with a range of experiences (lots or none) in baking and cooking. The goal of the classes is for everyone to improve their baking, whether just beginning or baking regularly.
"Continuing" or "Advanced" classes will always require a completed prerequisite "Introduction" class.
Are the classes hands-on or a demonstration?
Our current classes are all hands-on classes. The goal of each class is to maximize the experience and learning. Some elements may be demonstrated or prepared in advance for practicality (e.g. mixing the sourdough starter or a large batch of sugar syrup for bun glaze).
Please feel free to contact us for further information or clarification about specific classes.
Will I be able to replicate the recipe at home?
That is the goal of all classes. Recipes and instructions are designed to help you achieve a great result at home. We design the methods to suit already accessible ingredients and equipment (or can recommend affordable options where needed).
Will I take home baked goods after the class?
Absolutely! Enjoying food is an important part of baking. Every class has something to take home - often lots of somethings! Please contact us if you would like to clarify a specific class.
Do the classes cater to dietary/allergy needs?
Most classes have limited flexibility. Please contact us to clarify your situation.
All of our classes are vegan/vegetarian friendly!
None of our classes are gluten-free.
Our kitchen regularly has present and there may be traces of: tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, gluten, sesame seeds. Some recipes may include these.
